In the Belizean rainforest overlooking the Caribbean Sea, the Maya Mountains are home to rare and exceptional cacao trees. The Maya Mountain cooperative is a pioneer in the social enterprise model of high-quality cacao. It is made up of 350 families, including Q’eqchi’ and Mopan Maya, who have been growing cacao for generations. Awarded in 2019 at the Cocoa of Excellence, these beans rank in the top 20 worldwide.
