What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Our site uses an order form for customers to request information, products and services. We will collect contact information from our customers (e-mail addresses for instance) and financial information (credit card information). Contact information you provide on the order form is used to process and ship your order. We may also use your contact information to contact you as necessary to process your order and to inform you of shipping issues or special opportunities to purchase at World Wide Chocolate. Financial information that is collected is used to bill you for products and services. Also, should all or part of World Wide Chocolate’s business is sold; information may be disclosed to a purchaser as part of the sale.

The personally identifiable information that you provide to us and information about your order may be combined with other personally identifiable information (such as demographic information and past purchase history) available from our records and other sources. We also use Pixel Tags to collect additional information regarding your browsing experience. This information will be used to make our future marketing efforts more efficient and to provide you with a more relevant and timely brand and shopping experience. This information may also be shared with our third party service providers that assist us with our marketing efforts and with other marketers whose products or services we feel may be of interest to you. Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

If using our contact form, please include your name, email, and question/concern. This information is only used in our records for responding to requests, and is not shared.

Cookies (not the chocolate kind…)

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year. By using our website, you are agreeing to WWC logging this data.

If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

We currently use various tracking software, for internal data analysis. This information is not shared outside of any one or company not affiliated with tracking drawn-in analytics.

Who we share your data with

We at World Wide Chocolate do not share your data outside of internal employees for data & analytic purposes, such as product forecasting. We also will use spam detectors when monitoring content posted by user accounts. You can view your account data within your account page, but it is not shared outside of our direct means.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

If you create and utilize a new account, we will only retain your account & its details after 18 months of inactivity.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Your contact information

Your contact information will not be shared, but may be used if we have to contact you with any order-related topics.

How we protect your data

Our website is SSL secure (industry standard), with little-to-no possibilities of breach. We also do not retain your payment information, but optionally can be stored to save through our payment gateway (which is not saved within our site), which is encrypted at the highest level.
