About This Bar:
As New Englanders they love summertime on the Cape and Islands, filled with sandy, breezy beach days and nighttime bonfires and s’mores.
Something special happens in the early morning hours when all is still, the sun has yet to fully rise, and the cold Nantucket Sound waters and warm summer air meet, creating a soft fog which hangs low in the air. The coolness of the fog envelopes you, and the white stillness allows you to focus your other senses. When you breathe in, the moisture tickles your nose and transmits the gentle perfume of salty sweet ocean air, dune beach grass, sun-cooked and matted pine needles in the sand, and the bushes of beach rose flowers awakening to feed the bumblebees.
They created this chocolate bar to evoke this sublime experience. They use their rich, smooth Boyaca chocolate as the base and pair it with Organic Earl Grey Tea from Rishi Tea – the balance of their exceptional tea leaves and citrusy-floral bergamot is perfection. They finished the bar with their organic whole milk from Organic West and creamy, sweet Planifolia vanilla beans. All of the ingredients are carefully balanced to tell a new sensory story.
They hope that when you enjoy this bar it will bring back some of your favorite summertime memories, too!
About their Boyaca Cacao:
Goodnow Farms is proud to be one of the first chocolate makers to work with Impulsa Bacao and use their Colombian Boyaca beans to make chocolate. In addition to the beans’ comforting and delicious flavor profile, Goodnow Farms were truly impressed but the desire and commitment of the community to consistently grow and produce high quality cacao.
Years ago smallholder farmers from San Pablo de Borbur, Colombia were some of the first to voluntarily depart from the divisive and violent coca-production lifestyle. They chose a healthier, safer and more enjoyable path, which includes working together to produce the cacao they rely on to craft this Winter bar as well as their award-winning Boyaca 73% dark chocolate.
