Torey Searcy here,

Founder and baker here at Bald Guys Bake (BGB.) I’m sure you’re wondering how this quirky namesake struck or what bald guys have to do with baking. I will try to explain with brevity in mind, but no promises.

Though baking cookies is an obvious passion of mine, I am a former music education major, turned IT professional, turned photographer, and so much more. Like many of you, I have received countless nudges over time that have led me to pursue and explore nearly every angle of my creativity. However, when presented with the opportunity to explore my future with food, I relegated myself to family gatherings. Preparing food for my family throughout my life served as both an expression of love and an opportunity to create, but never a viable option for a 6-foot bald guy working in IT.

I boxed myself in like this for years, ignoring constant advice from those around me, encouraging me to lean into this talent. It wasn’t until dear friends of mine pushed me to bake cookies for their new boutiques that I had a visual of what my future could be. On the days of their opening events, I sold hundreds of BGB cookies. Not bad for an IT nerd. On that day, it became clear that this passion is valid, this form of creativity is meaningful, and my abilities are endless. Now, through Bald Guys Bake, I get to expand my family and prepare delicious treats that help bring people together.

Long story short, bald guys have everything to do with baking. We all do. And this bald guy welcomes you to explore every facet of yourself, along with every flavor of our fantastic menu.
