The Spiced Apple Cider bar is back! This bar is only available in the fall as we craft it with fresh Macoun apples they pick from their very own trees, and freshly pressed apple cider from local orchard Honey Pot Hill. The spice is single origin Cinnamon Verum sourced directly from Zanzibar, Tanzania by our friends at Burlap and Barrel. It’s the ultimate medley of fall flavors.
Macoun apples are often hard to find because the trees don’t produce reliable crops each year. Goodnow Farms has several on their farm, two of which are mature enough to produce enough apples for this bar on good years. Luckily this is a good year! The apple is named after horticulturalist W.T. Macoun, who developed it in 1932 by crossing McIntosh and Jersey Black apples. The name can be pronounced as either “Ma-coon” or “McCowan.” As for Goodnow Farms, they have a pretty even split between the pronunciations – luckily both are right! The flavor is sweet, tart and classic New England.
The Cinnamon Verum for this bar is sourced directly by Burlap and Barrel from a cooperative of farmers in Zanzibar. It’s made from the inner bark of the Cinnamomum verum tree, then sun dried and ground.
